Jennifer AustinMeet this month's Spotlight Designer, Jennifer Austin. A native of California, Jennifer Austin, the daughter of a commercial photographer, was empowered by the color, texture and the freedom of expression of her environment. Architecture was her first love, which became the foundation for her obsession. Some call it passion, but it’s more than that for her. She believes good design should not be a luxury, but a necessity. She opened her full service design business in 2008 after returning to college for Interior Design and a Culinary Arts. Her culinary experience drives very functional kitchen designs which include complete lighting plans. Though function is primary, form is not overlooked in her designs. Her personal style is Louis XV and XVI, which is much too ornate for most. Most of her clients fall into a style named 'the new tradition,' or a blend of new and old. This style allows her clients to follow current trends like the re-birth of mid-century modern and incorporate their family heirlooms as well.
