Mood Board Monday #46: Laundry Room Makeover

The laundry room, like the bathroom, is predominately about functionality. Because it’s not a high-traffic room, most homeowners forgo the design and just focus on its efficiency. However, creating a luxurious laundry room will actually increase your productivity.

The laundry room in the base image for this week’s mood board is a phenomenal example of a lavish room suitable to fit your laundry needs. The design is simple, making it the ideal space for both style and function. It combines two huge trends; fireclay and brass. In 2013, we saw fireclay take center stage as the new material for laundry room sinks. With its extreme durability and style, fireclay is the perfect choice for a utility sink. In 2014, the warm effects of brass will be seen all throughout the home, and the laundry room is no exception. We also love the use of subway tile, which was a 2013 kitchen trend that is spreading to the bathroom and laundry room in 2014.

This airy and fresh laundry room has some great features, such as under-the-cabinet lighting, but the best aspect is the amount of storage and counter space. Being able to hide detergents and cleaning products away in cabinets or closets will keep you organized and clutter-free. There’s also plenty of space to store items such as towels and washcloths. One thing this room does not lack is counter space. There’s plenty of space to sort, treat and fold clothes between the counter and the island. Because the appliances are front-loading, the designer was even able to turn the tops of the washer and dryer into even more counter space. With a design this open and bright, you’ll never want to leave the laundry room!
